Power Supply Application:

This custom made switched mode power supply is designed to supply the electronics of high voltage switches. The application is characterised by an extremely wide universal input voltage range ( AC and DC ), the ability to deliver a high peak output power and an excellent performance on dynamic load changes.

Model description:

The power supply circuitry is based on a 2 stage converter, which enables the PSU to meet the extremely wide input voltage range requirements.

The 1st stage is a boost converter, which is used when ac-input voltage is applied. In this manner a good power factor and also a regulated VBUS input voltage for the second converter can be achieved.

The 2nd stage is a flyback converter using current regulation. Consequently, meeting the needs of the strong output specification requirement.

This total conversion principle (typically for this application ) is providing a high level of reliability, a good efficiency and a compact size.
