Power Supply Application:

This custom made switched mode power supply is designed to supply a family of different coffee dispensers for the professional market. The application operates 24/7 with very high power demands for only a short period of time.

These peak load current demands caused by motors, valves and electromagnetic relays have a significant impact on the design of the PSU. In order to ensure an optimum reliability, the PSU has to be able to cope with these currents.

Model description:

The power supply circuitry is based on the single-ended feed-forward principle. This cost effective topology provides a high level of reliability, a good efficiency and a compact size.

In this particular application, the main output is used to supply the digital control electronics of the machine and one or two peltier elements. These elements are used to cool the coffee extract.

The load of the other outputs consists of valves, motors, relays and coffee dosing coils.

Mechanical construction:

The power supply has an open frame construction and is provided with two L shaped heatsinks. These are screwed down to the metal mounting console of the machine. This construction greatly increases the cooling capacity of the heatsink and it contributes to a lower weight and smaller size of the power supply.
