Power Supply Application:

This custom made power supply is designed to supply a family of liquid and candy dispensers for the professional market. The application is operating 24/7 with very high power demands for only a short period of time.

The existing peak load current demands have a significant impact on the design of the PSU. In order to ensure a high reliability, the PSU has to be able to cope with these currents.


Model description:

The power supply circuitry is based on the single-ended feed-forward principle. This cost effective topology provides a high level of reliability, a good efficiency and a compact size.

In this particular application the (24V) output is used to supply valves, DC motors and the digital control electronics of the machine. If the low level time lag overload protection is activated, the power supply switches to constant current operation.

The aforementioned, in combination with the internal resistance of a blocked DC motor, still provides enough voltage to supply the digital control electronics of the machine.

Mechanical construction:

The power supply is built in a closed aluminium housing, which is also applied as a heatsink for the heat dissipating semiconductor elements. This construction contributes to a lower weight and smaller size of the power supply. A backplane with three slots is present, which is accessible by removing a separate part of the top cover. These slots are used to plug-in system control boards
