Power Supply Application:

This custom made switched mode power supply is designed to supply the electronics and electromechanical parts of a professional coffee vending machine. Besides operating 24/7, the application demands a very high DC motor startup power and a low standby power.

Model Description:

The power supply circuitry is based on the single-ended feed-forward topology. This cost effective and compact size topology provides a high level of reliability and efficiency. The power supply has two outputs:

• A +30V output equipped with a fast acting and time lag current limitation protection circuitry.
• A separate overload protected +12V output, which is used to supply the digital control electronics of the machine.

Microcontroller:
All protection levels are regulated by a microcontroller. Its program is specially developed for this design.

Mechanical construction:

The power supply has an open frame construction and is provided with a L-shaped heatsink. Due to this construction, the PSU will have sufficient cooling by means of free convection of air. A popular choice of connectors has been made for easy and reliable in and output connections. At customer’s request the PSU has its mounting holes on standard 5”x3” positions, although the unit is somewhat larger than that.
