Power Supply Application:

This custom made switched mode power supply is designed to charge batteries and to supply the electronics in leisure environments such as motorhomes, caravans and boats. In this particular application the PSU is used to supply, charge and distribute the on-board +12V periphery. Furthermore, the application demands charging of the vehicle and leisure battery with the use of AC and DC sources.

Model Description:

The active power factor corrected power supply has an output, which delivers a continuous maximum output current of 25amps. This output feeds an U / I battery charger, which is based on the buck-boost principle.
This charger is jumper-settable for three fixed charge currents and different battery types. The leisure battery is charged by the vehicle battery during travelling.

Solar Regulator:
Implemented in the electronics is an on-board solar regulator (up to 100W) for charging both batteries at the same time.

Protection:
All of this is controlled automatically. The PSU is fully protected and has a temperature controlled fan circuitry. Status of the PSU can be checked by a three led system monitor.

Mechanical construction:

The power supply has an open frame construction with forced air convection. Superior cooling behaviour is achieved by two separate temperature measured sheet covered heatsinks. All power connections are made by common used
robust 6.3mm tab headers to ensure a proper connection to the system.
