Power Supply Application:
This custom made switched mode power supply is designed to supply the electronics of a coffee vending machine for the professional market. The application is characterized by very high power demands for only a short period of time. The onboard 5 volt auxiliary converter is used to feed the central processing unit (CPU) board of the machine.
Model Description:
The power supply is equipped with a passive power factor corrector (PFC) according EN 61000-3-2, class A.
The power supply unit has a built in continuous 5V / 4A auxiliary supply and a main converter remote on/off input.
The auxiliary converter can deliver up to 20W. The main converter can deliver up to twice its nominal 250W value and is provided with a fast acting high and a time delayed low trip level.
Protection:
The high level over-current protection limits the output to a constant value. A further increase of the output load will decrease the output voltage until the under-voltage trip level is reached without affecting the performance of the 5V auxiliary.
The low level time lag over-current protection circuitry latches off the power supply, when the output current exceeds the nominal level for a given time.

Mechanical construction:
The regulated power supply has an open frame construction and is provided with two L-shaped heatsinks, which are screwed upon the metal mounting console of the machine. This construction increases the cooling capacity of the heatsink and it contributes to a lower weight and smaller size of the switched mode power supply.
